A parable to ponder

Dear Editor:I have a friend who is a Hungarian-born physicist with a caustic wit. No, no it is not Edward Teller. This friend was a professor in a prestigious university. He had a colleague whom he hated and the feelings were mutual. One day a student of this colleague, whom I will call Professor Herbert, came to him and said, “I have been a student of Professor Herbert but now I would like to come and work with you.”My friend responded, “You are a ship leaving a sinking rat.”Oh my good Republican friends, the rat is sinking, come aboard the ship before it is too late.Jeremy BernsteinAspen
