SNOWMASS VILLAGE – The shuttered Junk space at the bottom of the Snowmass Ski Area will reopen over President’s Day weekend as the Base Camp Bar & Grill, developer Related WestPac announced Wednesday afternoon. The casual eatery and bar will operate daily from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. through the rest of ski season and will feature burgers and brats on the grill, nachos and other casual finger food.In addition, the upstairs deck space once associated with the Liquid Sky club will accommodate lunch seating as well as room for aprs ski gatherings. While it won’t be open on a regular basis, the old Liquid Sky room is available for “event-based activities,” according to Related WestPac spokesman Steve Alldredge. After remaining silent for weeks about plans for this expansive and empty space located in the heart of Snowmass’ Base Village, on Tuesday the developer applied for and received a liquor license for the space, which was once dubbed “Liquidated,” as a pun on its troubled history.Scott Calliham, who is also operating a quick-stop eatery out of a vintage VW bus in Base Village called The Magic Buzz, will be the business’ on-site owner.”We think a great new aprs bar and grill for visiting guests and locals increases vibrancy and vitality in Base Village and builds upon other recent openings like the new Viceroy Hotel,” Calliham said in a statement.
