A need for compromise
Helen Klanderud once again has shown her outstanding, clear-thinking leadership by backing the busway as an intermediate solution to our mass transit problems.
When the demand becomes great enough to warrant rail, the transition would then be feasible and affordable. The busway will cost only 10 to 20 percent of rail, which we cannot afford to build or operate at this time. But it would alleviate the Highway 82 congestion and give us experience in a rapid-transit operation.
The train is stalled and splitting our community into irrational, angry factions, and wasting uncounted monies on research, elections and “get nowhere” debates.
We, both sides, must compromise for all our good. Please!
