A necessary stand

Dear Editor:

Re: “Jews must take a stand,” Jan. 24 (letters). My hat is off to Bruce “I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore!” Gray. His impassioned plea, for Jews to stand up for Palestinian Human Rights, and act against Israel’s cruel siege, war crimes and genocide in Gaza, really moved me. As a Unitarian, there is a special place in my heart, a place full of admiration and love, for Jews who dare to speak out. We who do speak out for Palestine know full well the terrible wrath of Zionist bullies, fuming pro-Israel super-patriots and frightening religious fundamentalists.

As someone born on the day of Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream,” speech, I feel it’s my duty. Fighting to end segregation here in America and apartheid in South Africa was not a pleasant experience. But like Bruce Gray’s courageous stand, it was necessary.
