A memorable picnic

The Basalt Regional Heritage Society held its second annual town picnic this past Sunday, Aug. 25. People munched on hot dogs as well as several great side dishes brought by all who attended. The day cooperated by providing sunny and moderate temperatures, which was greatly appreciated by the horseshoe tournament participants.

Several picnickers took part in the tournament which was divided into singles and doubles.

First place in the singles division was won by Brad Elliott, while Bob Gish took second place honors. Phil Freedman and Leroy Duroux tied for third place. In the doubles competition Robert Pettit and Dick Meritt took first place, followed by Mattie Zuena and Crystal Gish in second place. The coveted BRHS Centennial T-shirt was awarded for prizes.

Many thanks to the people who came and enjoyed the food, competition and friendship of the BRHS picnic and helped make the picnic a great event. Join us this fall for our Fireside Chats.
