A mayor for the real world

Dear Editor:Politicians should have real lives grounded in the community, hopefully with children, spouses, kids and all the associated joys and heartbreaks of life. They need to understand what it takes to work like hell and survive in this town. We don’t need professional politicians, “lifers” who are removed from daily life because they have figured out how to survive and pay their bills by being employed by the taxpayers. We don’t need a mayor who thinks the best thing for Aspen would be a recession. Where is his degree in economics? Lucky for him if this happens he doesn’t have health insurance bills, college tuition, braces, dance lessons and a mortgage to worry about. We need and are fortunate to have Tim Semrau who has weathered the usual storms of real life. We can’t afford to have a mayor who will hide out in City Hall between bike rides and workouts.Vote for Tim and vote for a mayor who isn’t afraid to face the challenges of the real world, because he lives in the real world.Lauren SolheimAspen
