A marvelous opening concert

Dear Editor:Jamie Cullum caught my ear about three bars into his first song and I was hooked. What a marvelous opening for Jazz Aspen/Snowmass compared by some to a long ago Stones concert where Mick Jagger took over our spirit. Not since the opening of Jazz Aspen and Manteca have I been so excited. During the concert I ran out to a nearby ATM so I could get his latest CD/DVD release and then sprinted back to the concert to not miss a very exciting night. Not only did he bring the crowd to their feet and on top of chairs, he had all ages really listening, not talking, to his music. A rousing romp through the crowd with his outstanding trumpet player completely brought the crowd under his control. A brilliant piano player and singer, his new take on old songs recalled Harry Connick Jr. And his London Skies made me a fan forever. Jamie Cullum is my new leader. And I forgot the war, the presidency and America’s terrible situation for 2 hours and 15 minutes.Andy HansonAspen Highlands
