A Long story

Dear Editor:On Nov. 24, I attended a memorial service for a very dear friend, Richard Long, who was a pharmacist at Aspen Drug in about 1974. When the preacher asked for stories regarding Richard’s sweet, caring, honest and dedicated life, I should have related the following occurrence:When my daughter, Nancy, was born (1949) I almost died. When this happened, I began to question what life was all about, so I decided to study the King James Version of the Bible, which I did for two hours a day for 25 years. Over the years, during the course of my studies, I discovered a list of ingredients in the Old Testament that the priests used when they entered into the Holy of Holies to commune with God. I asked Mr. Long to mix some for me and he replied, “Do you want me to go to jail – these are hallucinogens!”Eloise IlgenCarbondale
