A local’s poem

Welcome to Aspen, please have a nice day

We are here to help you in most every way

We have beautiful mountains, rivers and lakes

A town of long history and the skiing is great

We all try our best to enhance your lives

We go the extra mile, and brighten your eyes

We appreciate your coming, we’re glad that you’re here

Pull up a chair, and we’ll have a beer

Our folks are good people, we’ll work hard for you

A please and thank you will help the day through

The Clapper, Marolt and Durrance families, just to name a few

They’ve all helped to make this town a better place for me and you

Use kind words a day, we’re here to serve you

By yelling at us, that makes it tough to do

We’re just a small town, living each day

We’re not a big city, please don’t treat it that way

If we say hello, don’t be surprised

We are quite friendly, we’re not in disguise

We have signs for a reason – safety for you

Please look where you’re going, we don’t want you hurt, too

If you’ve come here to live, we welcome your stay

If you’ve come with an attitude, please be on your way

This town is quite simple, it has a big heart

Treat it with kindness, that’s a good place to start

We love it, our town, we give it great care

Please show us the same, be nice and be fair

Thank you for coming, have a safe trip

If you visit again, please remember this tip
