A life-changing experience
May 23, 2012
Next month is my sixth anniversary of living in the Roaring Fork Valley. I’ve met amazing people in that short time and had the privilege of being involved in a number of organizations and community efforts. None has had more impact on my life than Roaring Fork Leadership.
Roaring Fork Leadership’s nine-month program enabled me to meet many wonderful people from throughout the valley whom I never would have met otherwise. But more important, it gave me the courage to stand up for what I am committed to in my life.
One thing I am committed to is ensuring all Coloradans can receive an affordable and accessible higher education. So I’m running to represent the 3rd Congressional District on the University of Colorado board of regents.
If you met me six years ago, I was nervous speaking in front of large groups and was uncomfortable putting myself and my ideas “out there.” Now, I am traveling around 54,000 square miles of our great state talking with hundreds of strangers in large and small groups. I would not be living my life to the fullest were it not for my time in Roaring Fork Leadership.
I encourage anyone who is interested in a leadership journey of their own, and the added bonus of meeting wonderful people and being involved in one of the valley’s great organizations, to apply for the Roaring Fork Leadership class of 2013 at http://www.rfleadership.org/content/application-guidelines.
