A life changed by The Buddy Program

Dear Editor:

As you all know, from our long relationship over the years that without the foundation, and support you have provided me with as a youth, I would not be where I am today. I am headed off to Sierra Nevada College in Incline Village, Nevada, in the fall, just one block from Lake Tahoe, and less than a mile from the closest ski area, to say the least … a perfect fit for me. It’s a pretty small school, around 600 kids total, and everyone loves to be in the outdoors, and taking advantage of what’s around them, just as much as I do. I’m very excited to say the least.

But without the amazing amount of generosity and kindness thrust upon my life, who knows where I would be heading? Words cannot express how thankful I am for you all and everything you have done for me in the past nine years, as I grow into a mature, responsible, young adult here in Aspen, Colorado.

With the help of your organization, I feel I have been given anything I could of asked for, throughout my entire childhood in Aspen. You guys have always been there when my family was going through hard financial times, or when things weren’t exactly looking on the bright side. My heart truly goes out to you all, and you have my undying gratitude, for as long as I shall live I will never forget the life-changing experiences and events of my childhood thanks to the Buddy Program. You all have been more than excellent everyday, and there really are not enough people in this world, that share the same amount of passion and love for a community than you all.

Now, I’m 18 years old, going to college and leaving this magical town of Aspen … at least for a little while. I know I will be able to leave this place with the knowledge and trust that organizations like the Buddy Program will always be here to give the next little kid the shot at the best years of his/her young life, just as it was given to me. I’ll say it all day long but I honestly can not thank the Buddy Program for everything it has done for me and I really feel it has helped make me the man I am today.
