A last chance for home rule

Dear Editor:Eagle County voters need to act right now in order to create fair representation by voting for the Home Rule Charter. The charter would allow the Eagle County board to expand to five commissioners, which would allow Roaring Fork Valley residents to have a commissioner elected from our area. Everyone’s voice can be heard when you can run into our county commissioner at the grocery store, the post office or school events.Ballots were mailed to individuals who the county considers “active voters.” If you received a ballot, please vote yes and return the ballot using the enclosed envelop or take it to the clerk’s office at the Eagle County building in El Jebel during business hours. The county must receive the ballot by May 1.If you have not received a ballot and wish to vote, please call the clerk’s office at 704-2700 or go to El Jebel and ask to vote. One must acquire a ballot by April 24 in order to vote. This is our last chance for a long time to improve representation and accountability. Vote yes on Home Rule.Bob SchultzCarbondale
