A job well done

Dear Editor:I am writing this letter to publicly thank 10 outstanding students from Aspen High School who worked as student election judges last Tuesday during the national election! Every precinct in Pitkin County was assisted by one election judge from the high school. In order to perform their services for the day, students were required to attend two after-school training sessions and fulfill their election day duties as judges. The students were at their assigned polling places from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. They mastered the detailed procedures of the election process as they served their community working with civic-minded adults. In an era when many adults are concerned about a lack of citizenship activity among young people, these young men and women demonstrated an unwavering commitment to civic virtue. I commend them for taking the time and effort to invest in the democratic process and provide a valuable service to all of us. Thank you to: Kelly Boegaert, Jen Leddy, Maggie Hoffman, Lauren Wenzel, Sophie Morton, Justin Faurer, Teagan Walter, Ryan Stout, Weston Boyles, Jake Lansburgh and Connie Luu (alternate).Karen GreenSocial Studies DepartmentAspen High School
