A humbling act of kindness

Dear Editor:Life is full of the good, the bad and the ugly, and while we all try so hard to avoid the latter two, there is often a surge of good that far outweighs everything else. We have experienced this over and over within this amazing community as we were dragged through the horror of losing a husband and father to the brutality of cancer.Today’s thank-you is directed to the thoughtfulness and generosity of all the Aspen High School students who every year organize a ski day that raises money to donate to a cause – a cause that is suggested by and voted on by the student government and acted upon by participation of the student body. We were so surprised and humbled when one day in late January we received a call that Aspen High School was donating this year’s ski day to Taylor and Piper Ferguson’s father, Robin, and the family. We sat here, including Robin, shaking our heads in wonderment at the depth of this kind of support. Please know, students at AHS, that the Ferguson family will never forget this act of kindness and that we have been lifted to a higher level because of it. And it is apparent that you have all grown into the young citizens that will make this world a better place.Martha FergusonSnowmass
