A hell of a sneeze

Terrorism is not a thing, a religion, a person, a place, an army, a gang, an organization, a political opinion or brutal philosophy. It is a residue. It is mold. It is what happens to people who are subjugated and broken. It is a symptom; the Molotov cocktail is simply a sneeze.

It is hard to argue against democracy for all, but it is equally hard to argue against the right of an Arab child to throw a bomb at the people who have killed his parents, not to mention his future. To people who are dying of thirst, even blood will taste great.

But, if we were all driving solar-powered cars, no doubt some of us would be vacationing at our homes on the Sinai this winter. Instead, an oily little man in the White House is giving us gas-guzzler tax breaks for Christmas. Ho ho ho.
