A great success

Dear Editor:Thanks to everyone who helped make the first Aspen Valley Renewable Energy Day a great success. We couldn’t have done it with out the financial and moral support of our sponsors: the city of Aspen, Holy Cross Energy, CORE, the ABC Foundation and Pitkin County. It is deeply appreciated. To all the presenters who came out on the beautiful, cloudless (John Denver) day to set up renewable energy and efficiency technology displays – you did a great job disseminating information to the constant flow of interested people who came by. Well done!A big thank you to our speakers: Mayor Helen Klanderud, Randy Udall, Larry Flowers, Bob Gough, Connie Harvey and the many others who spoke to the need, the benefits and the efficiency technologies of renewable energy in reducing our carbon footprint and our dependence on fossil fuels. We couldn’t have reached as many folks as we did without the kind support of the local media, including: the Aspen Daily News, The Aspen Times, KSPN, KSNO, KAJX, KDNK and GrassRoots TV.To Dan Sheridan and Sweet Sunny South for providing terrific music throughout the day – you were fabulous! Thanks to the Wheeler Opera House staff who made the end of an excellent day even better. For the help from NativeEnergy, the company that donated the green tags from the Rosebud Sioux Tribe’s wind turbine to make Renewable Energy Day a carbon-neutral event, we are grateful. Finally, a big round of applause to the volunteers and the community who pulled together to generate awareness about one of the most important issues of our time. Renewable energy is the solution to a cleaner, healthier world, reducing carbon emissions, increasing a sustainable way of life, and creating new economic prosperity for future generations. To learn more about how you can reduce your own carbon footprint, please visit Aspen Valley Renewable Energy Day’s Web site at http://www.areday.net.
