A great Fourth had by all

Dear Editor:On behalf of the Aspen Chamber Resort Association, I wanted to thank everyone who helped make last weekend’s Fourth of July celebration so fun, safe and memorable.People came from all over to spend their holiday in Aspen because of the live music, old-fashioned parade, and fireworks extravaganza. Aspen’s locals rolled out the red carpet for roughly 25,000 visitors, and showed why we are a world-class destination. The city of Aspen and the community safety department maintained a safe environment throughout the parade. Our community’s nonprofits, businesses and individuals pulled no punches when it came to float decoration; there were so many great entries! Aspen’s lodges, retailers, and restaurants put their best foot forward. The Aspen Volunteer Fire Department made sure that the fireworks show went off without a hitch. And, the many community organizations that worked so hard to produce so many wonderful events throughout the weekend. The Fourth of July really would not be complete without the efforts of organizations like Boogie’s, Aspen Art Museum, Aspen Music Festival & School, AVSC, ASC, the Early Learning Center, and many more. Last but not least, a big “thank-you” goes out to the official judges of the Fourth of July Parade. Ashley Allison (GrassRoots TV), Kristi Kavanaugh-Bradley (Snowmass Tourism), Michael H. Brown (Molly Gibson), Nina Eisenstat (Aspen Marketing and Communications), Heather Kemp (Sashae Floral Arts & Gifts), and May Eynon Selby (The Aspen Times) combined to create a fun atmosphere on the Hotel Jerome’s deck, and they all took their judging responsibilities very seriously. The Fourth of July weekend is truly a community event, and we appreciate everyone who contributed.Debbie Braunpresident & CEO, Aspen Chamber Resort Association
