A Grand Finale
April 24, 2003
A splendid ski season drew to a close last Sunday, April 20. Aspen Mountain’s closing day fell on Easter, which might explain the excessive number of ski bunnies both on and off the slopes over the weekend.
Warm weather, slush bumps and sunshine throughout the day combined with an apres-ski bash at the base amounted to a spectacular season finale.
“I had a great day,” said local Lauren Walkiewicz. “There still is a lot of soft snow up there.”
Jannette Whitcomb echoed her sentiments, saying, “It was an awesome last day, especially on the Ridge of Bell with no crowds and plenty of moguls.”
The crowd converged on the patio at the base of the mountain for an apres-ski party and to soak up the rays. DJ Dylan Regan and musician Tom Ressell divided their time entertaining the crowd with tunes. Burgers, beers and prizes served as additional enticements.
Friends bid farewell to one another after several months spent together on Ajax.
