A few election thoughts

Dear Editor:

It is a gas to live in this town and witness all the disagreements, it keeps the mud season from becoming boring. I could not make up my mind about the mayoral or council election. So I went to two of the three outings for the candidates.

Mick Ireland has my vote for mayor because the other three are weak or just divisive. Mick gave an impassioned reason for supporting the town’s long-standing disapproval of undercover agents in the schools or in town.

In the council race I have listened and it clearly is a tougher call. But I will support Jackie Kasabach because we need a woman on council for the obvious reasons of fairness and a nurturing posture. I will support Michael Behrendt because his short answer logic won me over.

The Aspen Art Museum was also a tough listen. I remember the Aspen Youth Center and loved its downtown approach to youth. However that section of town needs dressing up; this first step is the right one in that direction.
