A feast of thanks
I am writing to thank our community for all the support during Aspen TREE’s third annual “early bird” community meal on Nov. 23.
Seven-hundred folks were served 100 percent locally grown and organic food for free because of the countless hours of help from our 80 volunteers. Thank you to all of you who took initiative, even without being asked!
Thank you to Kip Feight and Conundrum Catering, Aspen High School, The Snowmass Club, Tasters Pizza, Clark’s Market, The St. Regis and the Viceroy. For the delicious food, thanks to chef Greg Shaffron, chef Patrick, chef Jeff and chef Matt Meineike. Thank you to Darcy, Noga Vardy, Shannon Jones and Carly Sewell for coordinating the event, and thanks to the Aspen Thrift Shop, the Mascotte family, Lenny Weinglass, Steve Goldenberg and Slow Foods Roaring Fork for their generous contributions (that enabled us to purchase food from local farms).
Most importantly, thanks to our local farmers! Thanks to Sustainable Settings, chef Ryan Hardy and Rendezvous Farm, The Living Farm, Peach Valley CSA, Jack Reed, Osage Gardens, bee farmer Ed Colby, Hazel Del Mushrooms, and The Other Side LLC for committing themselves to a healthy food shed and society. You are the backbone of our community!
