Carbondale summer camp registration has opened

Carbondale summer camp registration is open! Summer camps are available for participants ages 7 to 14. Students can enroll in half-day or full-day programs, which run from a few days to a few weeks. Creativity abounds in visual and performing arts camps. Options include camps for songwriting, street art, painting, puppet making, and more.
Students in these camps have the opportunity to work with local artists, develop new skills, and connect with peers. All camps are bilingual.

Girls on Bikes grants free educational rides starting May 18

Girls on Bikes is an introduction to mountain biking for middle school-age girls. No experience necessary. It’s free, but registration is required. Middle schoolers can laugh, bike, and explore in a fun and supportive environment. The first free ride is May 18 at Crown Mountain Bike Park.
Collaborative Town Trustees Work Session, May 20
The Carbondale Arts, Carbondale Chamber, and Carbondale Tourism are taking part in a joint work session with the Town Trustees at 6 p.m., Thursday, May 20. As organizations that partner with the town on economic development efforts, this session will look at the vitality of the community, the role of tourism, arts, and local businesses in creating an inclusive, healthy economy. Businesses are invited to attend this open mic forum and share their perspectives on the economic vitality of Carbondale.
subject/matr/mother art exhibit open through May 23

Last chance to see seven female artists featured in subject/matr/mother create work that centers around the complexity of the maternal experience. The curation aims to celebrate the link between “woman” and “mother,” while interrogating the way we associate it as one-and-the-same, or a preordained linear destiny. Shawna Miller curated the exhibit, with artists Mya Cluff, Courtney Dudley, Darla Jackson, Lucia, Erin Morrison, and Maria Teicher.
The Art Base presents dual photography exhibit, May 23

The Art Base presents dual photography exhibitions by Brenda Stumpf and Deb Shannan, on view from May 23 through June 20. A public reception is scheduled from 5-7 p.m., Friday, May 23, with both artists scheduled to talk at 5:30 p.m.

These two solo exhibitions explore the natural world and our connection to the place: Through Salt and Ash by Brenda Stumpf in the Alpenglow Exhibition Space and Aqua Depicta by Deb Shannan in the North Gallery.
Waiting list for Hermanos Guitérrez at Belly Up Aspen, May 24
Hermanos Guitérrez will be playing a blend of Latin and Western music at 8:30 p.m., Saturday, May 24, at Belly Up Aspen. The new album, “Sonido Cósmico,” is riddled with Latin mysticism and otherworldly guitar play.
Produced by Dan Auerbach and infused with the legacy of Hermanos Guitérrez, it is a journey through beautiful musical vistas that are profound, limitless, and spiritual.
The show is for all ages, but those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Aspen is located at 450 South Galena St. A waitlist is on the website for this sold-out show.
Mountain Fair Oasis Block Party applications due soon

Application deadlines approaching: Mountain Fair’s Oasis Block Party set for Main Street, with a music stage, an activity tent and lounge, art vendors, food trucks, cooling-mist stations, water station, immersive and creative activities.

Mountain Fair is seeking partners, like schools, non-profits, and youth organizations to get involved and set up their own activity tent or area.
