A disappointed reader

Dear Editor:

What a shame that the paper has decided to stop distributing The Aspen Times downvalley. I have read the Times daily for the past 10 years, and I would argue that many others prefer the Times to the Post Independent even though we live downvalley.

For many, our professional lives are integrally tied to the happenings in Aspen, and the paper provided an important means of keeping up to date with current events. In these times, I would have preferred that both papers were fully consolidated into one, providing information on the entire valley rather than arbitrarily deciding that people in Carbondale would prefer to read print copy about Glenwood rather than Aspen.

It was a sad day when the purple boxes disappeared, and I would encourage the paper to rethink the decision or consider other solutions – reduce the sports and world news sections to accommodate information from both ends of the valley and then create only one newspaper. We are in the end one valley.
