A community effort
November 23, 2009
Thanks to so many people for a wonderful community event on Saturday afternoon at the Aspen football field. From the coaches to the players, to the athletic department to the dozens of people who took tickets, helped coordinate parking, cooked brats, ran the clock and cleaned up after the game. And to the fans.
The community turnout was fantastic – the crowd even caused the opposing team to call an extra timeout and to be charged with a delay-of-game penalty due to the noise from the crowd cheering. The success of the football program is apparent, and I know that the coaches and players aspire to further improvement and greatness. They will do this through hard work, teamwork, discipline and caring – and some yelling and screaming, too.
If you missed this game, make sure to put it on your calendar for next year – the Skiers will be back. Thanks to coach Sirko and his staff for a great year and the significant impact they have on our kids and on our community. We are fortunate to have the Sirkos in town. Aspen is a better place because of them.
