A canine holiday wish

Dear Editor:My name is Chessie and I am a young 4-year-old, spayed female smaller Border Collie mix. I had quite an adventure the past months, and I keep hearing that I am very lucky even to be alive. My foster home with Valley Dog Rescue found me a nice home with a male dog friend to play with. But he got very jealous when the lady human was petting me. So I had to come back to Valley Dog Rescue. I was very sad and didn’t understand why I couldn’t stay with my new family. Then, after a few weeks of waiting, this wonderful nice and loving human took me home. We had a great time and he spoiled me rotten (which I liked very much). After only two weeks with my new human, we got into a terrible car accident. I was so frightened and ran away. It was cold and I was scared and did not know where my human went. So, for two weeks, a very long time, I was hiding and running from strangers and looking for my human. I was cold, starved and very lonely. Some caring people caught me and I am now back with my foster family at Valley Dog Rescue. They tried to explain to me that my human is in heaven with the angels and that I will have to go to a new home. They told me that I am a true survivor and that I deserve a loving and happy home. So, my Holiday Wish is to go to a nice, warm and forever home. I like other dogs, like to be with people and I am potty-trained. I like to chase kitties and I love car rides.I have been disappointed a few times in my life. So, don’t take it too personal if it takes me a few days to warm up to you. I am a good girl, I really am. All I want is to go home. Can you make my wish come true, Santa?Chessie as told to Ursula ShepherdCarbondale
