A can-do effort
As coordinator of Basalt Elementary School’s recent “Recycle for the Rainforest” project I would like to thank the following people and businesses for their help and support: Scott Condon of The Aspen Times for his article; City Market for their help in recycling; Don Boyer for his help in transporting the cans; Beta Chi, Basalt chapter of Beta Sigma Phi for their donation; James Udall and Community Office for Resource Efficiency for his donations; and all the parents and children who saved, smashed and hauled cans.
Because of this support many of the children have learned that a few small actions can make a difference for the environment.

Aspen’s dirty downtown alleys are enough of a blight that the city government is taking the initiative to clean them up this week.
