A call for questions

Dear Editor:

My name is Reid Haughey, and I’ll be interviewing the candidates who want to be our county commissioners for GrassRoots Community Television’s program “Probeline.” So I want to ask your readers: What questions do you want me to ask them?

I’ll do my best to follow up on what you want to know from your candidates. Please send along an email to info@grassrootstv.org with what you want to learn from these candidates who want to be your county commissioners.

Steve Child and John Young are vying to represent District 4 (commonly thought of as Snowmass – both of them), Michael Owsley is running for a second term to represent District 3 (which covers Woody Creek and the Castle/Maroon creek areas), and George Newman wants a second term representing District 5 (often referred to as downvalley, covering Basalt and the Crystal River and Fryingpan drainages). We vote for these officials at large, so they represent all of us, and their work matters.

These commissioners control expenditures budgeted at almost $66.5 million in 2012. That’s a lot of money, and how it is spent and what is important to these candidates can affect your life. Don’t you have some questions for them?

Send them along as soon as you can to info@grassrootstv.org, and I’ll try to get some answers. And be sure to watch “Probeline” on GrassRoots TV to see what these candidates have to say.
