A brave new world
Is managing Mexican immigration a lost cause, similar to the lady who was having trouble with her husband and the furnace, while she was watching one – the other would go out?! If this is reality, we should declare a year of discovery. Every one in both countries should learn Spanish and English and come together to determine our collective vision. I’m excited about this, and it seems to me that our first priority, after we can understand each other, would be to establish a gridwork of easy to understand laws that leave room for freedom of movement and expression. At this time, Mexicans have dual citizenship with U.S. If this continues, we have the right to have dual citizenship with them. Please consider this: We (Mexican & North Americans) could move freely between each country; vote in both elections; hold elective offices; own each others natural resources and share each others national wealth and knowledge. We could also make sure each of us have employment that is honorable and leaves time to dream; each person should be guaranteed a comfortable base income.Eloise IlgenCarbondale
