A boost for Skier football program

Dear Editor:

We would like to thank the community of Aspen and all who joined us for our Aspen Football Golf Tournament on June 9.

With the budget cuts that our schools are facing, we decided to take our shot at having a golf tournament to raise funds for new uniforms and travel expenses and to upgrade equipment. We were overwhelmed by the support we received, and it is because of our outstanding community and the support of our kids that we were able to raise enough money to cover all costs.

I would like to thank David Dimartino and his staff for helping us put on such a successful event. They are, without a doubt, a first-class act. We also would like to thank all of our parents and any others who helped us put this on starting in January.

Our young men continue to work their tails off at 6:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday. We would like to invite all of you to come see them in action at 7 p.m. on Aug. 31 against Ignacio as we try to continue to uphold the tradition that has become Skier football.

Thanks again to all of you who helped with this process – you know who you are – and to all who supported us.
