A big-box wedgie

As far as we know, the only thing that Brian Huster has done successfully is divide a town and force neighbor against neighbor on this issue of a “Marketplace.”

He has tried, unsuccessfully in our minds, to sell us on his immense concern for our community. He has failed to produce a legitimate tenant for his big-box dream and has led us to believe that all our shopping needs and financial concerns will be remedied upon approval of this project.

Why doesn’t Mr. Huster personally sit down with ALL members of the community and talk about the issues that concern the town? Why doesn’t he come clean on his previous experience? Why doesn’t he work a shift or two at Mountain Fair? Can he guarantee we’ll have store that sells underwear?

And speaking of underwear, we feel that Carbondale will ultimately feel embarrassed and betrayed by the aesthetics, traffic, pollution and the potential failure of the CRMP, a big-box “wedgie,” if you will.

A no vote gives us a chance to be part a communitywide plan that doesn’t divide neighbors, force someone else’s vision down our throat and line the pockets of a secretive, out-of-state developer with zero ties to Carbondale.

If this thing goes, I am going to hold all you yes voters responsible for clogging up the newspaper dispensers with those annoying supplemental advertisements.

But regardless of my opinion, please get out and vote. And regardless of the outcome, let’s become neighbors again, with or without CRMP.
