A better path

Dear Editor:

I read with some interest about the proposed improvements to the Castle Creek bridge bicycle path underpass. The current configuration is adequate. Slightly dangerous ” like entering a haunted house. The vision mirrors, if used correctly, eliminate any chance of collision. What compels one to speed round a blind corner anyhow ” natural selection?

I would strongly urge the Aspen City Council to consider putting those moneys toward the construction of a bike path from the Music Student/Marolt Housing to the Aspen Music School/Aspen Country Day School campus. The trail would benefit locals and tourists, and ease traffic.

It seems true to the vision of the Aspen Idea, a bike path connecting the campus to the existing trail network. The bike path trail network is one of town’s most valuable assets: a membership free private club. Look at the Physics Institute bike rack and imagine the same thing at the Music School/ACDS campus. It is difficult to state the importance of this trail being built. What is the price of a local child or music student being hit by a car on Castle Creek road?
