A belated thanks

Dear Editor:

My apologies for the late thank-you letter. The best description of the snafu is “what we have here is a failure to communicate.”

I had a truly memorable Memorial week. Thursday, I interviewed Fred Venrick, USMC, for the Roaring Fork Veterans History Project and GrassRoots.

Friday, we placed approximately 200 American flags on the veterans’ graves in Red Butte, Ute and Aspen Grove cemeteries.

Monday, as always, a nice early morning radio chat with the “Con Man.” Then on to what had to be the best Memorial Day service ever. It was brief yet covered the essence of honoring our fallen veterans.

Thanks to everyone; without your support, efforts and TLC it wouldn’t have been as successful as it was.

Special thanks to: John and Kevin, CMC Spring Valley campus, for the speaker system (we’ll eventually get it right). Jodi and Mark for the clean-up and set-up. CSOs Gretchen and Bobby for the traffic control. The Cub Scouts of Troop 200 for the wreath presentation. Pastor Tom Thierfelder for his words of support and hope. Our “Norge” nightingale, Jeanne and the golden trumpet, Richard Sundeen. Ann Owsley for the lovely memorial bench bouquets. Tom Buesch for Flanders Field. The folks who spoke and shared their heartfelt tributes. The Elks Lodge #224. You guys and gals rock!

To the colonel, a special thanks for your dedication to our veterans. Semper Fi.

A thankful veteran,

Dan Glidden
