96 busts on Saturday at Winter X

Aspen Times staff report
Aspen, CO Colorado

ASPEN – A crowd of 44,000 spectators attended Saturday’s Winter X Games at Buttermilk Ski Area, keeping security staff busy at the venue.

Ninety-six attendees were busted for trying to bring either alcohol or illegal drugs to the event, or for arriving intoxicated, said Alex Burchetta, deputy and spokesman for the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office.

Some of the people were issued summonses for minor in possession as well, Burchetta said.

Burchetta attributed the busts to bolstered security at the games, as well as the large crowd.
