86’d by investors, Carbondale’s ella exiting

CARBONDALE ” One of the newer additions to Carbondale’s restaurant row, ella, will be closed by May 3 unless new investors can be found to keep the business going.

Ian and Jessie Kipp, who operate the restaurant, said Wednesday that they were notified earlier this week that their investors will end their financial commitment to the business at that time.

“Our current investors will be truncating their relationship with ella restaurant … effectively closing our doors unless outside investment can be obtained,” a press release from the Kipps explained.

“We are greatly disappointed by this unfortunate prospect; however, we are proud of the exceptional business that we have been able to create in a scant year and a half,” they said.

The Kipps opened the restaurant in November 2007. Ian Kipp said the disappointing news comes at a time when the restaurant was actually doing well, despite an uncertain economy.

“Business has been good, even for a very new business,” he said.
