The Shining Stars Foundation — a national nonprofit dedicated to providing year-round recreational programs for children with cancer or other life-threatening illnesses — will be in Aspen this coming week for its 25th annual Winter Games, according to a press release.

Volunteers and children have travelled from across the country for the events, which are being held from March 21-28.

The program will take place at the Inn at Aspen at the base of Buttermilk Mountain, where children will be able to participate in daily, one-on-one adaptive ski, snowboard, ski bike, or sit-ski lessons with certified instructors.

Additionally, the kids will get to partake in sights and activities from the Aspen area, including a snowmobile adventure to the Maroon Bells, shakes from the Star Bar, race the clock at a downhill ski course on Panda Peak, and more.

“We are beyond ecstatic to celebrate 25 years in Aspen this March at the 2025 Aspen Winter Games! It has been a life-changing journey of hope,” Shining Stars Founder and CEO Kathy Gingery said in a news release. “We could never have imagined the impact we have been able to make on thousands of lives throughout the years, and we owe it all to our Aspen community.”

According to the release, Aspen businesses have been indispensable in making this event possible. Donors from Aspen Snowmass, the Inn at Aspen, and Home Team BBQ help provide financial assistance, and local restaurants and caterers provide food.
