11:24 p.m. wake up call

(Editors note: This letter originally was addressed to Patti and the BOCC.)Dear Editor:Yesterday I was looking for airline tickets to California for a trip in June and noticed, much to my dismay, that among my return options to Aspen was a United flight that landed at 11:24 p.m. As a resident that lives on the flight path, I am wondering what the discussion has been regarding the hours of operation at the airport and why my neighborhood should be subject to routine jet noise near midnight. This seems ridiculous to me. Now that our runway has been resurfaced, are we trying to become OHare. At what price are we willing to sell out the quaint serenity of our town in order to accommodate the guests? This is not a rhetorical question. Does the BOCC have any jurisdiction regarding the airport schedule? Who does? Is there anyone in the bureaucratic government matrix who actually lives on the flight path? If not, I encourage them to come over to my place this summer and experience the nocturnal cacophony first-hand. They could visit around 11:24 p.m. Dont worry, Ill still be awake.Brian HightowerAspen
