Mountain Mayhem: Tennis, everyone?

02: Erik and Summer Berg getting into the Wimbledon spirit.

Cleverly coinciding with The Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championships, Advantage Indoor Tennis hosted a fundraiser on Tuesday, June 30, at the St. Regis Aspen, sponsored by Eric and Summer Berg of Portfolio Aspen Properties. Tennis players of all ages took part in the festive event, which featured Wimbledon’s signature strawberries and cream on the buffet, drinks, games, interactive Wimbledon photos and a raffle.

The organizers, also known as Ad-In Tennis Group, are putting the full-court press on raising money to build an indoor tennis center available to the community at Crown Mountain Park in El Jebel, which would be the first public facility in the Roaring Fork Valley available for year-round use. They’re halfway to their target of $1.1 million, and made an impact at the June event, raising awareness on their efforts, along with $13,000 that night. “It could take just one generous donor to meet our goal,” said Ted Bristol, president of Crown Mountain’s board of directors and also an integral player in Ad-In Tennis Group.

Once the funds are raised, Crown Mountain Park and Recreation District will oversee construction of the facility. For more information, visit http://www.indoortennisevent.com.
