Gunner’s Libation: Drinking Buddies

In a recent White Elephant holiday gift exchange, I found myself walking away with a six pack of Drinking Buddies. No, it wasn’t a group of frat boys or even a half-dozen of my favorite party friends. These guys — with names like Cody, Ryan and Josh — are drink markers. Buffed up and scantily clad, they hang on the side of your glass (in a pull-up type motion); think about those little rings that finer folks use on the stem of their wine glasses and you’ll know what I’m talking about. Curious about their creative minds behind these little gems, I did some research. According to the makers, NPW: “Everyone needs a drinking buddy, especially one who looks great in a pair of budgie smugglers! Hang a hunk on the side of your glass to mark your drink and avoid mix-ups. Essential for bachelorette parties, girls’ nights, picnics or anytime the drinks are flowing.” This week in Aspen seems like an especially good time to break them out.
