Aspen History: Broncos Inspiration

“A little something for the trophy case was given to the Aspen High School football team Tuesday,” reported The Aspen Times on Jan. 13, 1983. “John Walker, owner of Judge Roy Bean’s in Aspen, presented Coach Pete DeGregorio and Terry Conner, team captain, with a football autographed by the Denver Broncos. Walker, a close friend of Denver’s Craig Morton, got the ball for the team because he thought it might provide a little inspiration. Just in case, though, he is also working on Dallas and Kansas City.”
