Wall seeks artist in Basalt

Staff report

Cassie’s Corner Store in downtown Basalt is seeking proposals for a painted mural to be installed on an existing corrugated metal wall on the outside of the store. This call for artists, a collaboration between the Art Base and Cassie’s owner Mike Solondz, is open to artists who are residents of Colorado.

The deadline for project submissions is Oct. 7 with installation on or before Nov. 18.

The selected mural will be a fun, colorful installation that “espouses Basalt’s outdoor lifestyle,” Solondz said when describing his vision for the project.

Solondz and the Art Base will cover material costs, installation costs, artist fees and other expenses associated with the fabrication and installation of the mural as outlined in the artist’s budget proposal.

Full details and applications are posted on the Art Base website at https://theart base.org/artist-opportunities/
