Theatre Aspen’s Price named to Tony Award nominating committee
Theatre Aspen Executive Artistic Director Paige Price has been named to the Tony Awards Nominating Committee for the 2015-16 season.
The Tony’s Administration Committee announced the nominators 51 members on Tuesday. Members attend all Broadway productions during the season and vote on Tony Award nominees for the year — each serves a three-year term.
“I am honored to join such an esteemed list of artists and theatre professionals, and I will take this assignment as seriously as I do my voting privileges,” Price said in a statement Tuesday. “I look forward to the ability to celebrate the enormous accomplishments of all theatre artists on Broadway.”
Price, as an officer of the Actors’ Equity Association, has been a Tony voter since 2006. She has been artistic director at Theatre Aspen since 2008.
This year’s Tony Awards take place June 7. Nominees include part-time Snowmass Village resident and Theatre Aspen performer Beth Malone for her lead role in the Broadway musical “Fun Home.”
Theatre Aspen’s summer season opens June 26 with “Cabaret.” The season also includes “Peter and the Starcatcher” (July 15 through Aug. 21), “Other Desert Cities” (Aug. 4 through 22) and “Junie B. Jones The Musical” (June 29 through Aug. 15).
