Karl denson. Prince. Costumed shenanigans. What’s not to like about Belly Up Aspen’s 2016 Halloween party?

The club is bringing local favorite and funk master Karl Denson and his band Tiny Universe to town this year, for a show also featuring Fishbone singer/saxophonist Angelo Moore. The band is slated to perform Prince’s classic “Dirty Mind” album. Denson is coming off of a stadium tour with the Rolling Stones that included the classic rockers’ groundbreaking free concert in Cuba.

With Denson providing the soundtrack, the club will host its annual Halloween costume contest — during which brave souls take to the stage to have their creativity judged by the howling masses. This year, first prize gets you $500 cash and $500 in Belly Up tickets, second place wins a $250 gift certificate to Matsuhisa and $250 in Belly Up tickets while the third place winner receives $250 in Belly Up tickets.

There’s no shortage of Halloween happenings around Aspen, as the locals take back the streets for this annual town-wide offseason rager. But the Belly Up party is the center of the action these days and, with Karl Denson and Angelo Moore playing Prince on-stage, this one will be tough to top.

Tickets are $35 for general admission and $60 for reserved seats, available at the Belly Up box office and
