As the NFL teams from Colorado and North Carolina prepare to do battle in Super Bowl 50, two leading classical music festivals from the states also are putting pride (and some local grub) on the line.

North Carolina’s Brevard Music Festival challenged the Aspen Music Festival and School to make a wager on the big game. If the Denver Broncos beat the Carolina Panthers, the Brevard Music Festival agrees to take a group photo of their board of trustees and President Mark Weinstein in a Broncos jersey. They’ll also deliver a North Carolina pulled pork barbecue dinner for 10 (with all the fixings) to their counterparts in Aspen.

And if Carolina prevails, the Aspen Music Festival and School agrees to take a group photo of its board with President and CEO Alan Fletcher in a Panthers jersey. The local music festival and school would send Brevard a Colorado salsa verde pork chili dinner for 10.

Fletcher, channeling his inner Peyton Manning, was confident going into the big game.

“I’m grateful to Mark and everyone at Brevard for what is essentially an offer to buy us dinner,” he said.
