Local band 8th St. Bus Stop is sharing new songs at Belly Up Aspen to energize those in an off-season slump, from 9-10:30 p.m., Saturday, May 10.
“It’s a good chance for the people who are still in town to unwind,” band member Brendan Noakes said.
8th St. Bus Stop, originally three members, formed during the final open mic night at Aspen’s Red Onion in 2020 and grew to six members over time. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the band found themselves jamming outside near the bus stop close to where they lived, making it the right fit as the name for the band.
The Aspen-based ensemble is known for their dance-ready melodies to energize the crowd. Their songs come from a wide range of inspiration, leaning on rock, blues, funk, and reggae.
“It’s all about creating new songs and getting people up dancing,” Noakes said.
8th Street Bus Stop is composed of him and his cousin Cole Jackson, Santino Edward Crisci, Gaston Havandijan, Tomy Piola, and Dustin Lutomski.
The new songs on their set list for the upcoming show at Belly Up Aspen are below:
- “Ooo Ooo” – Lyrics by Cole Jackson
- “Mount Rushmore” a fun folk song
- “Gasty’s Birthday Jam”” / Just a good day
- Keanu Reeves” from a dream that their drummer had “Shandy Shanty”
The band recently performed at Earth Day in Basalt and had a prior engagement at The Wheeler Opera House for a singer-songwriter competition. The band hopes to start a tour in Denver and the nearby areas starting later in the year.
“Catching up with my cousin and playing music with him, and playing music with all the other guys and being good friends in this town, it’s a dream come true,” Noakes concluded.
Tickets are $10. Show is for 18 years old and older, with a valid ID. Belly Up Aspen is located at 450 S. Galena St. For more information, visit bellyupaspen.com/events/8th-st-bus-stop-6.
