Letter: Thanks for a great meal

I was dropping my son off at preschool Tuesday morning before heading to the Jerome to make the final preparations for Aspen TREE’s eighth annual Farm to Table Free Community Meal when a fellow parent asked what it takes to the feed the entire community. I simply answered, “Lots of volunteers!”

I am so grateful to our 234 volunteers for making this year’s meal by far the most special. Between the volunteers and the 1,200 guests who got served, we served close to 20 percent of the year-round Aspen population almost 100 percent locally grown food Tuesday for free!

I extend a heartfelt thank-you to all who helped; we really could not do it without you.

Special thanks to Angie Davlyn, Catherine Lutz, Patsy Batchelder, Jack Johnson, Darren Dyabala, River Morgan, Noga Vardy, Heather Macdonald and Shayne Morgan for coordinating the event as well as Adam Cohen, Tony DiLucia and the entire crew at the Jerome Hotel for making it happen! The Jerome was the best upgrade we could have asked for in making this event so special.

I’d also like to thank our chefs — Rob Zach of the Jerome, Jim and Andrew Helsely of ASC Catering, William Nolan of the Viceroy, Sean Evans of Viand Provisions and Francis Stuckins of Green Cuisine Aspen — for preparing the delicious food and the hardworking farmers who grew it.

Last but certainly not least, I’d like to thank Holly and David and Ditto Dreman Memorial Fund for making the evening possible and our 30 additional sponsors. What a gift you gave to our community!
