Trails gone wild

Pitkin County commissioners,

Whether you know it or not, a crucial meeting is set for 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Pitkin County Library to determine the fate of a new trail in the rural area of Prince Creek, Carbondale.

The trail has been planned under the auspices of the Open Space and Trails Committee silently for three years, and only recently subjected to public hearings.

One person, Michael Kraemer, gets to approve or disapprove this controversial plan. Why are none of the Pitkin commissioners involved? Maybe because you approve of the new expansion of trails and have given up on open space. Seems like the mountain bike lobby is winning.

You're also involved in promoting a trail from Carbondale to Crested Butte. What's next? A trail to Tierra del Fuego?
