Letter: Twenty years later and still missed

Even though it has been 20 years since you were swept away from us Jan. 23, 1996, on the backside of Aspen Mountain in an avalanche, you are not forgotten. Those who knew you remember your big heart and great smile. Not only were our lives changed that day, but because of you, we became inspired to educate ourselves about being safe in the backcountry.

You taught us to celebrate each day. That living here is a true gift. I, for one, can say your joy for life in the mountains rubbed off on me!

Thank you for all your gifts, for all the sharing. We, your friends, will always miss you.

May you soar above, forever free.
