Letter: Step into ‘The Salon’

Sunday was the first-anniversary celebration of The Salon at Justice Snow’s bar and restaurant, held in its parlor room. Owner Michelle Kiley’s vision brings audiences up close and personal to a variety of exceptional and seasoned performance artists — giving our community something unique and special to savor. She deserves our gratitude for bringing a sense of the “old” Aspen back to our town — the Aspen with local flavor and charm.

Curated by internationally awarded pianist and composer Andrea Clearfield, and now co-curated by performance artist Alya Howe, this Salon series is to be experienced and appreciated — for the connection between performers and the audience deeply touches the heart and soul.

The sold-out Salons are held at various times throughout the year. Do yourself a favor, and plan to attend these intimate performances with just 50 others — with performers just a few feet away. This past Salon featured classical cello and piano, a string quartet, jazz piano with a vocalist, spoken poems, a classical solo on four-piece timpani drums and classical Spanish guitar. Food and drinks are provided.

Stop in at Justice Snow’s for further information and the date of the next Salon. We all should thank Kiley for bringing this unique experience to Aspen.
