Letter: Speak up about the ARC

Finally. It all began in 1978 when voters were asked to approve a new recreation center for Aspen. After two failed votes, the Aspen Recreation Center was finally approved in 1999 — 21 years later.

Now, 38 years after the first vote and 13 years after the approval vote in 1999, the city is looking for ways to make the ARC even better than what it is today.

I have to agree with Tim Anderson, recreation director for the ARC, when he says, "There is not much doubt in my mind that there won't be talk about 'When are we going to build those outdoor pools?'"

In addition, one of the most revenue and user friendly pool additions would be the inclusion of the HydroWorx.

The HydroWorx is a warm-water therapy, fitness, teaching and athlete workout prefab pool complete with underwater treadmills, movable floor, underwater video and more.

The HydroWorx is inexpensive and generates lots of revenue. Check out the proforma for revenue generation on the HydroWorx website.

Today, 2 to 3:30 p.m. — ARC (topic: aquatics/fitness)

Today, 4 to 5:30 p.m. — ARC (topic: ice users)

If it's built with revenue in mind, it's a win-win.
