Letter: Buses for the worker bees

I would love to thank Aspen Skiing Co. for opening this weekend! This is a unique and amazing treat for both locals and visitors on this holiday of remembrance. Many of Aspen’s restaurants will be opening for the summer, and we will be ready to see all of our local friends back from offseason, people visiting Aspen for the first time and, of course, the people who make this their second home. I also would like to thank Bert Myrin and Adam Frisch on the City Council for fighting the good fight for the worker bees! They have managed to get full bus service for the entire weekend rather than in years past when service would stop at 9 p.m. on Sunday. This expanded service will allow visitors and locals to enjoy our world-class dining for a few hours more on Sunday, which benefits the city, the owners and, of course, the employees. The biggest bonus of this expanded bus service is that employees are able to get to their destinations in Castle Creek, Maroon Creek and Hunter Creek after work on Sunday. The local bus routes are, after all, used by the people who keep this hamlet running year round. Kudos, Bert and Adam — see you on the slopes or perhaps for a beer after!
