Aspen, CO ColoradoASPEN Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office personnel arrested Bonnie Cockrell, 54, on Saturday on charges of menacing with a handgun. The arrest stemmed from a Nov. 24 incident when four men were working on a water system near Cockrell’s house on Little Annie Road. According to a report by Deputy Jesse Steindler, Cockrell began yelling at the men from her from porch. When Steindler spoke with Cockrell at her house, he reported that she said, “Tell them next time I might just wing one of them,” but then said she was only joking. One of the men, John Dufficy, is Cockrell’s neighbor. Though he said he was not threatened by the event, the other three men told Steindler that they did feel in danger. No one has claimed that Cockrell ever pointed the gun at anyone. And, according to Steindler’s report, she said she is aware of gun safety.Even so, one of the men told Steindler that Cockrell had a “wild look” on her face and that she approached them with a large German shepherd.Cockrell was arrested and later released on a $2,500 bond.
